Enclosure Panel, Door & Window Seals
Load limits, bolt patterns, and flange design all strongly influence seal performance. Actual gasket compression can vary considerably from nominal compression levels. Environmental considerations -- outgassing, chemical and solvent resistance, temperature load, flammability and sealing standards -- can compound concerns. PORON® Microcellular Urethanes are based on a unique formulation that maintains an effective seal across a wide range of loads and environmental conditions.
Compressibility & Effective Seals
Assembled housings or enclosures must ensure adequate gasket compression to provide the required level of seal. PORON® Urethane materials have a relatively flat compression force deflection curve. This compressibility enables the load to remain within required limits while accommodating a larger range of compressions. This widens overall design limits beyond the capabilities of many materials, such as elastomers. PORON® foams will not take a set or relax, thus maintaining an effective seal over the life of your product.
Flammability & Sealing Standards
Rogers Corp. has kept pace as industry standards expand to meet safety requirements. Many PORON Urethane foams meet the flammability requirements of UL HBF and MVSS 302. In addition, PORON cellular urethane products meet environmental standards such as UL JMST2 gasketing, AMS 3568 Corrosion Resistance, and ASTM G53 UV Resistance requirements.
PORON® materials provide a wide range of firmnesses and thicknesses. PORON® soft and extra soft polyurethane foams are easily compressed for use where flexibility is a key requirement. PORON is also available with enhanced sealability (PORON® 4701-41) for demanding vacuum sealing or low closure-force applications. PORON® firm and very firm polyurethane foam are designed for managing high energy impact.
