Pads & Springs
Noise and vibration are generated when motors and fuel pumps are in operation and components come in contact. To reduce the strain on parts and improve the user experience, isolator pads and springs are placed in strategic areas.
BISCO® Silicones are reactive solutions to noise that block the path of sound and vibration in the product. For portable, battery-operated products, such as mobile phones and tablets, PORON® Urethane Foams provide excellent resistance to compression set (collapse), and exhibit high resiliency, good vibration damping, and impact absorption.
Constant Spring Force
Typical isolators have low performing compressibility rates when it comes to cushioning. This means that they wear out more quickly and lose their “spring-back” force. Over time, the material actually shrinks and flattens out. PORON® Urethanes have excellent compression set resistance properties. They effectively reduce noise and vibration, and provide long-term cushioning between components.
Vibration Isolation & Fire Protection
Most noise caused from vibration occurs at frequencies below 500 Hz. The key to choosing the “optimum” isolator lies in the material’s ability to deflect and a low natural frequency to avoid amplification within the system. BISCO® silicone foams are highly resilient and able to continually deflect vibrations over long periods of time while experiencing only minimal changes in stiffness due to stress relaxation. Their stability in a wide range of environments and ability to self-extinguish during fires makes them idea for isolators in transportation, communications, and electronics applications.
