Dust Seals
From clutch covers to mobile devices, thinner, lighter, softer, and more compressible foam materials are needed for sealing and cushioning. Today, these materials are often pushed to their limits. They must be able to withstand the effects of compression, manage damaging impact energy to sensitive components, and be able to seal out dust and particulate matter. PORON® Microcellular Urethanes provide consistent performance over time in constrained spaces and meet UL enclosure, gasketing, and flammability standards.
Compressibility & Consistent Performance
Seals commonly fail due to environmental exposure through consumer abuse, deterioration, stiffening, and inability to rebound after being compressed. PORON® Urethane foams provide excellent resistance to compression set. They are highly compressible and conformable, effectively sealing out dust, water, and other contaminates for the life of the product.
Sealing Standards
Rogers Corp. has kept pace as industry standards expand to meet safety requirements. PORON cellular urethane products meet environmental standards’ requirements for UL 50E electrical equipment, UL 508 industrial control equipment, and UL JMST2 gasketing.
- PORON® Materials provide a wide range of firmnesses and thicknesses. PORON® soft and extra soft polyurethane foams are easily compressed for use where flexibility is a key requirement.
- PORON is also available with enhanced sealability (PORON® 4701-41 materials) for demanding vacuum sealing or low closure-force applications.
- PORON® firm and very firm polyurethane foam are designed for managing high energy impact.
