Mass Transit Seating

Mass Transit Seating

Designing seating is a complicated process. It’s about saving the rider from an uncomfortable trip. It’s about leg space and reclining capabilities and ingress/egress. It’s about designing in a durable cushion that meets safety standards without jeopardizing comfort. BISCO® MF-1™ silicone foam was created with your unique seat designs in mind. It provides exceptional FST (flame, smoke, and toxicity) characteristics, superior weather- and UV-resistance, and low compression set to ensure safety, long-term comfort, and durability.

Country Specific Fire Standards

Foam cushions need to meet the FST standards specific to each country. In the US, it’s ASTM 3675, ASTM 662, and Bombardier 800C. In the UK, it’s BS 6853. In France, it’s NFF 16-101. In Germany, it’s DIN 5510. In China, it’s a mix of all these. BISCO MF-1 material is the only seat cushion material to meet these standards without the need for uncomfortable fire barriers or vandal barriers wrapped around or over the cushions.

Design, Durability, & Comfort

You want your seat design to communicate comfort, style, and safety. You also want identical performance throughout its service. BISCO MF-1 material is made of silicone, the most durable foam material on the market. While most cushioning wears down over time, BISCO materials have a unique open cell structure that evenly distributes weight across the surface and provides the best long-life solution for transportation applications.

BISCO® MF-1 bun silicone material meets all FST standards and, in fact, will not burn. It provides superb flame resistance and fire protection, along with softness and a higher coefficient of friction, combining safety and comfort for an improved passenger experience.
