Understanding and controlling vibration is critical to the stability of electronic and mechanical devices.
Understanding both damping and isolation in terms of vibration control has allowed technology to radically change our lives. These changes are the result of engineers working to understand the relationship between vibration and frequency to remove or control vibrations in their applications. Over the years, most forms of transportation have become quieter and smoother, equipment has become more reliable, and the harmful effects of vibrations on humans have been mitigated because damping and isolation have been considered at the design and engineering levels. Simply put, vibration management is critical to many applications.
