Bimblers Bluff 50K and PORON® Cushioning Sets Up to Bring Comfort to Connecticut’s Most Sought After Race

October 8, 2009 (Woodstock, CT.) –  A 10k is a regular part of a runner’s weekend. 20k and you’re starting to talk about a pretty hard core runner. But what about a 50k? These people are called ultra runners and 120 of them will take to the trails north of Guilford, CT on October 25th to race in the Bimblers Bluff 50k, sponsored by PORON® Cushioning – manufactured by Rogers Corporation.

Confronted with the lack of local races, ultra runner and Event Director Jerry Turk decided to host a race himself. Jerry tells us, “I have been an ultra runner for many years and was getting tired of having to travel to find endurance races.  With so many great trail systems locally, I decided to put together a trail race closer to home.”

After just two years, the race continues to sell out and the Bimblers Bluff 50K has become THE race for many Northeastern ultra runners. The 2009 race filled up six weeks prior to the event and the 10 person waiting list filled shortly after. Jerry goes on to explain, “What started out as an idea during a training run, is now an event drawing runners from 15 different states.”
