Power Inverters

Inverters are used to convert DC electricity from sources like solar panels, batteries, or fuel cells to AC electricity. Solar inverters convert DC power from solar panels to AC for the electric grid. Uninterrupted power supplies use inverters to power programmable logic controllers (PLC) and to supply AC power when main power is not available.

There is a growing demand for power in a wide range of applications: portable consumer devices, hybrid/electric vehicles, industrial control systems, and solar power systems. This has led to increasing adoption of inverters to ensure a better supply of high efficiency, high reliability power.

Inverters provide increased energy savings over conventional on/off control. Faster switching times mean more precise temperature control. In fan motors, inverters reduce audible noise.

Semiconductors play a major role in power converters and inverters by boosting performance, minimizing power losses, and optimizing thermal management.

  • Laminated busbars are the backbone of a power stack, physically supporting the components and electrical bus, and conducting power to all the components. Rogers’ RO-LINX® busbars provide a customized liaison between the power source and capacitors, resistors, integrated circuits (ICs), integrated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs), or complete modules.
  • Within the IGBT and MOSFET power modules, power substrates provide interconnections and cool components. curamik® ceramic substrates are designed to carry higher currents, provide higher voltage isolation, and operate over a wide temperature range.
