Aircraft and Railcar Sound Blocking & Absorption

As airlines and railways look to improve the customer experience, unique materials are available to support new design techniques for reducing noise levels. BISCO® A2 Sound Barrier is a solid silicone rubber engineered to reduce aircraft cabin noise while exceeding industry standards for flammability, smoke density and toxicity. A2 helps block the transmission of sound and demonstrates excellent performance in low-frequency noise reduction.

For rail passengers, Rogers’ BISCO® product family offers a wide range of silicone based cellular foams and solids for use in various rail interior vibration management applications including seals, floor isolation pads, sound barrier, and anti-vibration/rattle and more. BISCO® Cellular and Specialty Silicones provide acoustic solutions that block the path of sound and vibration, reducing noise and ensuring a more comfortable ride. The BISCO® Silicone L3 Premier family addresses vibration in rail car floating floors. BISCO® silicones meet various national rail standards including NFPA 130 (US), BS 6853 (UK), DIN 5510 (Germany), EN 45545 (Europe) and NFF 16-101 (France).

For both aircraft and railcar applications, HT-200 Sound Block materials are designed to reduce the transmission of sound within interior spaces while preventing the spread of fire and smoke. Additionally, MF1 Bun Silicones are a cushion foam used in passenger seating for sound blocking, exceptional durability, fire resistance performance and lasting passenger comfort.

Automotive Sound Reduction

Reducing buzzes, squeaks and rattles (BSRs) or noise, vibration and harshness (NVR) is essential to improving the ride for automotive customers. Through BSR engineering, noise can be significantly lowered by reducing the transmission of structure-borne vibration and airborne sound from the road to the passenger compartment via the floor. PORON® Polyurethane Foams reduce BSR and provide improved NVH characteristics. Their unique formulation do not take a compression set or collapse and maintain an effective seal over the life of the material. These foams, often used for vibration pads and dampeners, exhibit high resiliency, good vibration damping and impact absorption.

Specifically designed to provide low frequency vibration isolation in challenging environments, the PORON® VXT™ 4701-70 products are the thickest, toughest, strongest and most durable PORON polyurethane ever developed.
